Are You A Camp Builder?
A new and exciting phase of our Major Gifts campaign is called “Camp Builders”. The campaign starts September 1 and runs through December 31. Here are the details and your chance to make a special impact through your unit treasury and/or gathering pledges from your parents.
Are you a Camp Builder?
Camp Builders are expanding and improving Camp Napowan and Camp Lakota with:
* New and refurbished campsites.
* Year-round cabins providing heated space for troops, packs and programs.
* Dining halls with full-service kitchens to accommodate all campers.
* Extra support for camp staff.
Camp Builders are campers, families, troops, packs, ANYONE contributing to the camp/facility expansion fund, facilities/maintenance endowment, or camp staff scholarship endowment.
YOU can be a Camp Builder by:
* Making a donation or pledge to the Camp Builders 2002 fund.
* Sponsoring a campsite (Great idea for troops or packs!)
* Buying CAMPBRICKS™ to honor special people or achievements.
Camp Builders: Building new and refurbished campsites!
Campsite sponsorship is an excellent way for troops and packs to help build and improve the camps. Fifteen new and 25 refurbished campsites are planned for Camp Napowan.
A Napowan campsite sponsor contributes $35,000 towards a new campsite or $30,000 towards a refurbished campsite.
A campsite sponsor's name will be engraved on a special boulder, then placed at the gateway of a designated campsite. Troops and packs can sponsor a campsite alone or with other units.
Major campsite project components:
* Excavation
* Infrastructure
* Flushing latrines
* Room for 30 tents
* Flagpole
Camp Builders: Building year-round cabins!
Large year-round cabins will be constructed at several camp locations to provide space for troops, packs, staff housing and program activities.
The cabins will be heated for year-round use and constructed to allow for the addition of bathroom facilities.
A cabin sponsor contributes to the camp/facility expansion fund.
Camp Builders: Building year-round dining halls with full-service kitchens!
At each camp, dining halls with full kitchen facilities will provide meals for campers and space for training programs and other camping activities.
The dining halls are designed for year-round use and will include restroom facilities.
Current plans are to locate the dining hall near the entrance to camp, providing convenient access for deliveries, a focal point for camp, and easier access during winter.
Dining hall sponsors contribute to the camp/facility expansion fund.

Camp Builders: Endowing camp staff scholarships
Camp staff scholarships support competitive salaries to attract and retain excellent camp staff.
They are also tied to higher education scholarships to encourage academic achievement,
continued leadership development, and service to Scouting.
Scholarship funds are earned from interest generated by the endowment.
A primary source of funding for the scholarship endowment is the CAMPBRICKS program.
