Celebrating the 2nd Summer of Scoutreach
We have excellent news about our Second Summer Celebration on August 31st, all seventeen units participated from the following northwest towns Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Wheeling, Rosemont, Prospect Heights, Hoffman Estates and Palatine. More than 800 Scouts and their families totaling more than 2100 people participated in this event. We had a Soccer tournament from 9am-4pm.
This was possible due to our Soccer league. The kids competed with other units. All the kid's families had their own delicious Latin foods. Everyone had a happy, wonderful day. At 5pm we started the trophy ceremony, our Scout Executive Bill Fisher was there as we handed out plaques to all seventeen Chairman and Recognition letters to all our Cubmasters and Scoutmasters. Each kid received one trophy as we talked about the Importance of Scoutreach not only being about Soccer but also to help our kids grow in a healthy and positive manner.
All the units recited the Scout Oath in English and Spanish. We explained to everyone that this will continue all year, but during winter there will only be one practice day in the units local School Gym. We also thanked every parent for giving their kids all the attention they deserve.
We are growing and getting stronger every day and very proud of this program that reaches to kids that otherwise would never have this wonderful Scouting experience.
