Changes to be effective with trips beginning after January 1, 2003 are as follows:
At least one of the leaders participating in the unit outing needs to be current with Youth Protection Training. This will be required for all outings.
Local Tour permits will only be required for activities that take place more than 20 miles from a unit's normal meeting location OR include an overnight camping trip.
Tour permits will not be required for participation in District or Council sponsored events (i.e. Camp-o-rees, Summer Camp, etc.)
Despite these changes, unit leaders are reminded that although a Tour Permit might not be required, all standards must be maintained as specified in the Guide to Safe Scouting. This includes the use of seat belts, insurance coverage, leadership requirements, and more. Parent permission slips should be obtained for ALL outings.
