CAMP STAFF INTERVIEWS

Staff interviews for positions at all of the summer camps are taking place. While some positions have been filled, there are still positions remaining to be filled. We are still looking for people, both young and experienced, who are looking for a great way to spend their summer (and possibly get paid for it, too). Positions are still available at all camp locations for interested and motivated persons willing to help provide an exciting summer camp program to the youth we serve.

Applications for camp staff positions are available online at the council website- www.nwsc.org – or by contacting Marty at the Council Service Center at 847-8635-9404 or mschultz@bsamail.org.

CAMPING

Napowan 2003 Leader Orientation meetings are being held on April 1st at the Council Service Center and again on April 9th at the Elgin Central School District. Both meetings will begin at 7:30 p.m. Troop leaders for units coming to Napowan or with participants enrolled in one of the Blue Goose Adventure Base programs are encouraged to attend one of these meetings to hear the latest information on the camp.

The reservations are in and the programs are being scheduled for the exciting Blue Goose Adventure Base offerings. Participants will be contacted shortly to confirm their choices and to start their trek preparations. This promises to be a great summer for these Scouts and leaders. Remember that final payments for Blue Goose Adventure Base participants are due May 1st.

A reminder that the second payment for youth attending Napowan is due in the Council Service Center April 11th. The second payment amount is $60.00 per youth. Final payments are due May 24th.

If you need additional information or materials, contact Marty at the Council Service Center at 847-635-9404 or mschultz@bsamail.org .

DAY CAMP

The roundtable is being readied for the knights and maidens who will be in attendance this summer at Day Camp. Both the Little City and Morton Grove Camp Directors are busy planning programs, which will surely lead to knighthood for the medieval participants. Camp Coordinators are reminded that deposits of $20.00 per Scout attending Day Camp are due in the Council Office on April 1st with the final payment due on May 30th.

Questions regarding Day Camp can be addressed to the Council Office at 847-635-9404 or to Marty at mschultz@bsamail.org .

Join us for Napowan Venturing Weekend

By Debbie Keyes

Looking for something to do with your crew this summer? Come to Napowan Adventure Base. Each summer, our council sets aside one weekend at Napowan for Venturers. The camp is reserved from Aug. 1-3, 2003 for Venturing Crews to experience the camp as only Venturers can. In addition to the popular COPE course, the camp will offer Shooting Sports, Swimming, Boating, and Flintlock (the pioneer village) activities. You won't want to miss the Beach Party and several other special Venturing activities planned for this weekend only.
The food is fantastic - not your typical camp grub.
Crews must register, so visit http://units.nwsc.org/venturing/ for the registration form.

You'll also want to check out http://www.nwsc.org/camps/ for more information on High Adventure opportunities. Come to the weekend as a beginning or ending to your Blue Goose Adventure of scuba, biking or rock-climbing.
