2004  FRIENDS OF SCOUTING -  INVESTING IN OUR YOUTH

Over 50 Scouters attended the 2004 FOS kickoff at the St. Simons.  A mock presentation was done and received great reviews.  Start early and make sure your Unit signs up for a Friends of Scouting presentation.

2004 FOS FAMILY CAMPAIGN
UNIT  RECOGNITION

New Unit Recognition for 2004 based on both participation and unit goal.

Each District will set a unit dollar goal that meets or exceeds last years FOS unit giving level.

Unit participation after achieving the FOS monetary goal determines the award level for 2004 (Cards must given to the FOS Unit Presentation presenter within 60 days of the presentation.):

SILVER AWARD:  If a minimum of 50% of all families in unit participate with monetary gift.

GOLD AWARD:  If a minimum of 75% of all families in unit participate with monetary gift.

Each unit will receive either 5 silver or gold unit FOS patches (rectangular strip) for the right sleeve of unit leader uniforms.

When the FOS Campaign is completed, it is expected that the recognition awards will be given at the May Roundtables.

Each Unit will select a Unit Coordinator that will give leadership to the FOS campaign. We want every Unit to be involved and every family given a chance to help support Scouting.

The presentation will be the same as last year with the involvement of Scouts, Leaders and parents.  This presentation will be brief, but will explain what Scouting provides for our youth and why their investment in our Scouts is important.  A new colorful brochure will explain where the monies raised come from and where your support is used.  It will cost the Northwest Suburban Council $150.00 to support one Scout for a year with the major portion going directly to the support of each Unit.

So what do you have to do?

Recruit a Unit Coordinator, sign your Unit up for a presentation and see Scouting grow.  Every Unit should have a presentation date by the beginning of December.

Thank you for you help and participation.
