District Dinner Results
The Signal Hill District Dinner was a great success this
year as we honored several adult leaders for their outstanding service in
2002. The Dinner Chairpersons, Conrad
Barta and Jean Frost, both put together a great program for the evening and the
Dinner Committee also worked hard to make sure adult leaders were recognized
for their 2002 efforts. District
Chairman Frank Moriarty announced that Signal Hill District achieved the
Quality District status and had a most successful year. Now for the most important item of the
evening, the District Award of Merit.
The Signal Hill District was very proud to announce that the 2002
District Award of Merit winners were Joanne Bilas and Frankie Johnson. Joanne and Frankie both have given
tremendous service to the BSA and continue to be involved in scouting. Congratulations Joanne and Frankie!! A list of all the many award winners will be
available at the Roundtable.

SIGNAL HILL MERIT BADGE CLINIC MARCH 1, 2003
Hmmmm! So those
Scouts have been working on merit badges for months now but just don't seem to
have the time to finish them with that ever-needed visit with a counselor! Well here is their chance!
Signal Hill District will be holding their annual Merit
Badge Clinic on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Rolling Meadows Community
Center, 3705 Pheasant Drive, Rolling Meadows (9:00 a.m.). All Scouts are invited to visit with a merit
badge counselor and have the work they have done approved and signed off.
Please realize that this clinic is not the time to work on
badges but rather to have the work that has been done discussed with a
counselor and consequently signed off.
Scouts are reminded to bring with them whatever materials or projects
were necessary in completing the requirements of a given badge. They must also bring the properly signed
merit badge card. The current merit
badge book may prove useful as well.
If a scout would
like to finish up several badges that he has worked on, that too can be
accomplished at the clinic. It is
strongly suggested that Scouts arrive no later than 11:45 so that every
opportunity can be given to visit with the counselors. Our goal is to complete all interviews by
12:30 so that our volunteers can fulfill other plans they might have that same
afternoon. A concession stand will be
available to all to help keep smiles on everyone's face while they wait their
turn.
As in the past we have held three "Safety" seminars and will
do so again this year. Safe Swim
Defense will be held 10:15 -10:45 a.m.; Safety Afloat will be held 10:45 -
11:30 a.m.; Climb on Safely will be held 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All will be held in the Multi-purpose room
of the facility. AND…..
All will be preceded by our NEW addition to the
seminars! YOUTH POTECTION TRAINING
will be offered from 9:00 - 10:15 a.m.!!
So Adults, bring those scouts with you!
It is a win-win situation for all!
Look for a flyer at Round Table, which will list the badges
we anticipate to be represented at this year's clinic. We are looking forward to approximately 45
badges, including many Eagle required ones.
Signal Hill thanks you for participating in the past and
looks forward to helping even more
Scouts at this year's clinic! It is a great opportunity!
DON'T MISS OUT!!!!
