North Woods Klondike

The Klondike will be held Jan 24 – 26, 2003 at Rainbow Scout Reservation in Morris, Illinois. The Events will feature the famed Sled race as well as many other outdoor winter skills. Plan now to have your Troop and Patrols attend this great camping event. For more information contact Dick Engbrecht at 847-392-1542 or Matt Skelly at 847-824-6875. The North Woods Annual Dinner

Do you remember your prom night, the blue tuxedo or the pinning of the corsage on your date? Well relive all the memories at the North Woods Annual Dinner February 8, 2003. This year's event will be held at the Avalon Banquets in Des Plaines. The cost will vary based on meal choice, but will be between $25 and $30 per person. The evening will be filled with good food, good friends, dancing and Fun. The evening will be highlighted by the annual awarding of the various Awards to the many volunteers in the District, and will feature the presentations of the District Awards of Merit. Units are encouraged to plan now and recruit a table or two. There will be a special award for the Unit with the most people in attendance. North Woods Annual Meeting

On December 3, 2002, the North Woods District held it's annual meeting for Charter partners and District Members at Large. The evening featured Scouts from the district presenting the colors as well as reciting the various oaths of our programs. District Chairman Forrest Borre talked of the many highlights of the past 2002 year and thanked all who helped make his time as chairman a wonderful one. He then led the election process of new officers for North Woods. Elected were: Mike O'Malley, District Chairman; Gail Walton, District Commissioner nominee; Terry Ennes, Finance Vice Chairman; Mike Flaherty, Scouting Power Chairman; Jim Scanlan, Membership Vice Chairman; Jay R. Haack, Cub Scout Vice Chairman; Dick Engbrecht Boy Scout Vice Chairman; Forrest Borre, Venturing Vice Chairman. These officers are assisted by some 40 other district level volunteers in making North Woods nothing but the greatest.
