Fall Camporee
Troops should save October 10-12, 2003 for the North Woods Fall Camporee. The theme is a unique twist to traditional Camporees and will feature unique cooking events and outdoorsman skills. Troop 37 of Arlington Heights will play host to the District in this one of a kind event. More information and details will be available at the August Roundtable
Membership: Everyone's business
The fall of 2003 will be a truly special fall membership campaign in North Woods. Our District has been chosen by the National office to be one of a select group of Districts across the nation to participate in a trial Cub Scout membership emphasis program. This year every boy in grades 1-5 will receive a Cub Scout Fun CD, along with a few other materials to encourage them to join your programs. More details of this new program will be rolled out at a special North Woods Membership recruitment event to be held in August. This new program is in addition to the already in place council membership drive featuring Chicago Bears own Brian Urlacher. Every new boy with an application turned in to the Council office by October 15th, or any Scout who recruits a new Scout will receive a special Brian Urlacher patch. Yes, that is correct a special patch featuring Bears all-star player Brian Urlacher. North Woods August Roundtable
The Training event of August is the North Woods Roundtable. August 12, at St. Simons, 717 W. Kirchoff in Arlington Heights is the place for this massive training day. On the schedule to be taught will be Youth Protection, New Leader Essentials, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek on Safely among others. Be sure to check out the North Woods Website for updates on courses being offered at this one stop for some of the basics in Scouting training.
