New units
North Woods would like to welcome the newest member to its ever-growing family. Venturing Crew 421 was chartered to the Arlington Heights Rotary club in April. The crew is a high adventure crew based in Arlington Heights. The crew has 6 members on its charter currently and is looking to add 4 more by the end of April. Welcome Crew 421 to the Scouting Family here in North Woods. Pinewood Derby
Again this year North Woods outdid itself with the District Pinewood Derby. Over 700 people packed into the gym of Christian Liberty Academy and watched as 4 separate tracks were lit up with racing excitement. Over 270 cars were entered in the race and design competitions, with the winning cars in each age category advancing to the finals and a chance to win the overall district title of Pinewood Champion. A total of 26 packs had cars entered in various categories to be raced or judged. For a complete list of winners, check out the North Woods website. A big thanks goes out to Jim Scanlan for his hard work in organizing a great event. Jim and his complete committee have been working for months to bring the Scouts of North Woods to this great event for a great day of racing and scouting.
