Born August 1, 1998, with 12,626 units and 148,595 members, Venturing has grown by more than 50 percent in both areas over the past five years at a national level (234,115 members in August 2003).  Northwest Suburban Council contributed to that growth having chartered over 50 units in those 5 years.  In 2004, NWSC will have a concentrated effort to organize new Venturing crews and build an infrastructure to support them.  Future developments include training for both adults and Venturers and activities such as a Venturing Climbing Day at Lakota in June and the 3rd Napowan Venturing Weekend in August.  Recently, a new Venturing web site was created for the Northwest Suburban Council - see http://units.nwsc.org/venturing and you can also Subscribe to the NWSC Venturing news group by sending an email to nwscventuring-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

A new Venturing Fast Start module has been added to the BSA Web site at http://www.scouting.org/venturing/faststart This module is one of the best ever created by National.  Check it out!  If you haven't become involved in Venturing yet, this module will certainly have you wondering 'why knot'?  Find out more about Venturing at Super Scouter Saturday - enroll in a Venturing session or stop by the Venturing table at the Midway!
