Born August 1, 1998, with 12,626 units and 148,595 members, Venturing has grown by more than 50 percent in both areas over the past five years at a national level (234,115 members in August 2003). Northwest Suburban Council contributed to that growth having chartered over 50 units in those 5 years. In 2004, NWSC will have a concentrated effort to organize new Venturing crews and build an infrastructure to support them. Future developments include training for both adults and Venturers and activities such as a Venturing Climbing Day at Lakota in June and the 3rd Napowan Venturing Weekend in August. A new Venturing Fast Start module has been added to the BSA Web site at http://www.scouting.org/venturing/faststart
