Super Scouter Saturday - November 8, 2003

It's new, it's exciting, and it's the biggest thing to hit the Northwest Suburbs since sliced bread. It is the ALL NEW, ALL PROGRAMS super event of 2003. If you have not yet guessed, it is: SUPER SCOUTER SATURDAY.   This event will be one of the few times Scouters from every aspect of our programs, be it Venturing, Cub Scouting, or Boy Scouting, will gather under one roof to train and learn together to better serve the scouts we serve.  Note tho that this is not Basic Training.

The event will be Saturday November 8th, 2003, and will be held at Christian Liberty Academy. Cost will be $25 for a whole day of training, and $15 for half day of training. Both options include lunch and access to the midway being run by our Council Commissioners.

This event promises to be THE EVENT to attend. Every leader should plan now to attend SUPER SCOUTER SATURDAY and to bring a friend. Actually, you should bring every Adult from your Pack, Troop or Crew.  Use this opportunity to mingle & learn from other Scouters at all levels from thoughout the council.

Be sure to stay tuned to updates, including registration forms, at your local Roundtable, in the newsletter and at www.nwsc.org

Questions may be sent to nwscsuperscouter@aol.ccom

Some FAQ's ...

What Sessions will be offerred?

There will be as many as 40 different classes offerred.  Classes for Cub Scout Leaders, Boy Scout Leaders, Venturing Crew Leaders, Committee Members, District Leaders, Commissioners and even parents.  See the flyer at Roundtable or on the web for a comprehensive listing of the courses planned.

What will the day be like?
Times are 8:30am – 5:00pm.  Participants need to be PRE-REGISTERED.  There will be an opening ceremony, and then six (6) different training sessions that you choose from an extensive list, each lasting about 50 minutes.  There will also be a MIDWAY OF RESOURCES that you may browse and collect information from.  Lunch will be tossed in here somewhere with a special lunch program on Webelos to Scout Transition and then On to Venturing, and there will also be a formal closing ceremony.

May I bring my children?
Good question.  Unfortunately not.  This is an ADULT training session.  Adult leaders need a time where they can discuss their Scouting issues and network with other leaders to find their answers and gain new ideas and enthusiasm. If you need child care talk to other leaders or parents in your unit. That could be a way for them to contribute to the unit while you are gaining valuable knowledge to help the unit.

What does my  $ ?? include?
It includes a hot catered lunch, a commemorative patch, and most course materials on a CD.  It also pays for the facility, publicity, and about a gazillion other administrative things.

Why should I attend?
Excellent question.  To enrich your Scouting knowledge.  This will assist you in program and administrative areas no matter what your position is.  Our goal is to offer you training of substance ... information that you take back to your Scouts and your  units.  Information that you can put right to work, to benefit everyone.  We want to give you the tools to make your job as leaders or parents easier. Learn to better utilize that "Hour a week". If you are a well versed Scouter already, come and share that knowledge with someone else ... we are always looking for more qualified staff members.

Who's running this thing?
Jean Frost is a volunteer Scout leader with years of professional training experience.  She has a team of many other highly experienced Scouters working with her to make this a top-notch program.  If you are dynamic, enthusiastic, and well versed in Scouting, and would like to be a part of this team, please call Jean at home (847) 934-1916 ... or email at nwscsuperscouter@aol.com
