CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL FOR DOING YOUR BEST FOR THE
BOYS!!!!
ALL volunteer leaders in the BS Program deserve to
be recognized for their efforts and sacrifices for our youth. The Boy Scout program offers such
recognitions in the form of Training Awards, which are worn above the left
uniform pocket as knots. LEADERS ARE
RESPONSIBLE for
submitting their own awards to the unit Committee
Chairman for approvals and forwarding it on to NWSC.
Award forms are found in the New CS Leader Books
and in the Scoutmaster's Handbook, or stop in and visit the Scout Shop to get a
blank one.
To qualify for a leader training recognition knot
you must be registered in the position you are requesting a knot for.
You must have completed all the required
training. You must have completed
however many elective requirements
the award calls for. Your Committee Chairman, or Cubmaster/Scoutmaster must sign all
the places on the form for their signatures.
You may earn only one knot during the tenure time
specified for the knot. (Only one knot
for every year or two of registered service, depending upon the requirements of
the award.)
Awards are not retroactive. You must apply for the award within two
years of the registered service or the training award is forfeited.
YES, IT IS JUST LIKE EARNING A RANK! You DO DESERVE the award, so please apply
for it. All awards are presented at the
District Roundtables that are held once a month. This is the only place that awards may be picked up.
Please be mindful that it does take time to process
the awards, so awards submitted during the month, will not be presented until
the following month.
Get started now with training, and good luck on the
elective requirements. Be sure you are
registered in the correct positions. If
you are not sure, simply call Dee at 847-824-6880 and ask her to check. Best wishes and here's hoping to start
receiving many more award applications!!
