SCOUT EXECUTIVE'S MINUTE

Dear Fellow Scouters:

I am impressed by the extremely high level of dedication amongst the volunteers and staff of the Northwest Suburban Council. In all of the meetings, activities and events that I have seen Scouting is a very high priority in the lives of Scouters in the northwest suburbs. Scouters are open with one another and share their ideas, experiences, successes as well as challenges. They strive to do their best on behalf of the youth they serve. Having a superior program for an ever-increasing number of local youth is at the forefront of their priorities. They have a high level of expectations of others involved.

There is an ongoing need to communicate the council’s mission, vision, policies and procedures repeatedly in order to maximize Scouting’s positive effect in the northwest suburbs. A concise image is necessary to share Scouting’s message with youth, leaders, and the community in general. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships is vital to accomplishing successful Scouting.

For the past several months I have been working with the staff as well as key volunteers to discover those successes and challenges, to build a team of key people willing to lead the council into the future, to establish a foundation for our future growth in terms of finance, membership, relationships, facilities, unit service, and program. Meeting with volunteers, staff, community leaders, donors, and various council and district committees has been helpful in providing a situational analysis of the Northwest Suburban Council.

I appreciate the helpfulness of all of the people that I have met. Your generosity, positive attitude, and dedication to the success of the council and the youth we serve are greatly appreciated. Together and over time we can accomplish great things together. I am thankful for your Scouting volunteerism and your “can do” attitude.

Best regards,

Stephen J. Taylor, CFRE
