Scouter Of the month
Deb Keyes loves Venturing! So does everyone else in her family. Realizing the largely untapped potential of the Venturing movement, Deb has spent countless hours working to boost Venturing membership throughout the Northwest Suburban Council. That effort started on the home-front with Deb’s daughter Shannon and Life Scout son Kevin. Both are Crew 476 Lakota Dancers and members of SCUBA Crew 98. Deb’s husband Chris is the Advisor for Music Crew 68. Here are Deb’s Venturing hats — Vice chairman for Signal Hill, membership chairman for the council , council Venturing newsletter editor and webmaster, associate advisor and committee member of two different crews. What’s remarkable is, Deb has time for more. She’s a committee member for Troop 10, writes the Signal Hill District newsletter, is the district’s webmaster, and is a member of the council’s Marketing and communications committee. Debbie has helped out on the council level since 1993 when son Kevin first joined Cub Scouts. She’s always on the look-out for new ideas to improve learning and bring fun to Scouts of all ages. But her passion is Venturing. Ask her about it—and be prepared to listen and learn! With a lot of Scouting on her plate, Deb also devotes time to working with School Volunteers of District 220—helping to match volunteers with opportunities in the schools. We proudly salute Deb Keyes as our Scouter of the Month. |
