Red Cross reaches BSA agreement

The American Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America has signed a national training agreement to ensure greater availability of Red Cross training through BSA. Through this agreement the Northwest Suburban Council will have its own American Red Cross Instructors and Instructor Trainer to provide training to both youth members and adult volunteers in:

  • First Aid, CPR and AED training
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Emergency Response
  • Lifeguarding
  • Wilderness First Aid Basics

The coordinator at the Council for this agreement is J. Kevin Chapman's email is madpiper@bh.nwsc.org or home phone is 847-394-1593.

The first step is for the council to identify the youth and adult leaders who will be American Red Cross instructors and/or instructor trainers. If you are a Red Cross instructor or instructor trainer, please contact J. Kevin Chapman at 847-394-1593 or madpiper@bh.nwsc.org and you will be asked to provide some basic information about your Red Cross authorizations.

If you are not a Red Cross instructor and are interested in becoming one we also ask that you contact Mr. Chapman.

Watch this newsletter for upcoming information on when Red Cross training is available.

The next full course is scheduled for January 17th at the Council HQ. Preregistration is required. Call 847-824-6880 or look on the Council web page www.nwsc.org for more details.
