Cool Outings! Rock N' Lock N' by Justin Rock, Troop 23 We went climbing at Adventure Rock. This friendly establishment is located north of Milwaukee in Pewaukee, Wis. We arrived at 8:30 p.m. excited and eager to climb all night long. The staff taught us how to use their equipment and climb safely during the first two hours. After completion of the class we had pizza and juice for dinner.
Adventure Rock has three areas for climbers, which include a bouldering room, a beginner’s area, and a section for advance climbers. The ceiling is about fifty feet up so you have plenty of room to move around on the walls. We climbed until 1:15 a.m. and then slept on the floor in our sleeping bags. We were woken up at 7 a.m. for breakfast and we left around 8:30 a.m.. Would we do it again? Any day. It was tons of fun. Our only complaint is that we couldn’t climb all night long. Oh well. The staff was wonderful and very experienced and friendly. Fourteen of our scouts also went up early and were able to earn the Climbing Merit Badge and participate with us when we arrived. This is wonderful outing and I recommend it to any troop. For more information visit www.adventurerock.com |
