SCOUT EXECUTIVE'S MINUTE Dear Fellow Scouters: The summer camping season has almost arrived. This is the ideal time to ensure that the “outing” part of Scouting occurs for every Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturer in the Northwest Suburban Council. There are a full range of summer outdoor activities available for our youth: Boy Scout Summer Camp at Napowan, High Adventure trips staged from Blue Goose Adventure Base, Cub Scout Resident Camp at Lakota, Cub Scout Day Camps at a variety of locations, Webelos Weekend at Napowan, and Family Camp at Lakota over Labor Day Weekend. Amazingly, only one-third of local Boy Scouts attend a long-term summer camp and only one-sixth of local Cub Scouts attend a long-term summer activity. With all of these local choices available there is simply no excuse to not “Get On Board!” and provide the opportunity for our kids to participate in such a worthwhile program. However, it’s still not too late for this summer. These are still openings available to get your Cubs, Scouts and/or Venturers involved. Don’t let another summer go by denying your Scouts the experience of being “fully dipped in the Scouting program.” Help your Scouts to “live the promise” offered in all of our handbooks of the adventure of the outdoors. Call the Camp Hotline at 847-635-9404 to learn of the latest openings and programs available. Don’t be a “woulda, coulda, shoulda” or a “Next Year Nellie.” Call the Camp Hotline today! Best regards, Stephen J. Taylor, CFRE Scout Executive Northwest Suburban Council |
