Scouter Of the month

If there is an event that includes people from the North Woods District, you can count on Michael Ellis being right in the middle of it and taking all kinds of pictures.

In addition to being an outstanding Webmaster for North Woods, Michael has been a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 30 years and has consistently shown his willingness to participate in unit, district and council activities.

As his sons became Cub Scouts, he joined them as a leader, an assistant cub master, and cub master. As they moved into Boy Scouts, he stayed with them as an assistant scout master and troop committee member.

Through it all, he continued on as district cub scout activities chairman, merit badge counselor, religious medal counselor, and assistant district commissioner.

At the North Woods District Dinner in February, he was awarded the District Commissioner's Award, which is given annually to the person who has been an outstanding member of the Commissioner's staff. It is predicated on performance, dedication, recruitment, and overall value to the district.

Michael is a second generation Scouter. His love for Scouting is contagious and it shows as he introduced Scouting to his family - his wife Alice, sons Marshall and Kenneth, and daughters Katherine and Theresa, who were in Girl Scouts.

Congratulations, Michael on becoming our Scouter of the Month!
