SCOUT EXECUTIVE'S MINUTE Dear Fellow Scouters: "Get On Board!" You've seen the signs posted at local District Roundtables, District Committee Meetings, and even at the Council Annual Business Meeting. What does it mean? What's going on? How can I get involved? The Northwest Suburban Council, Boy Scouts of America is preparing to launch a multi-year effort to raise $10 million to improve our facilities (primarily our camps) and to ensure Scouting's future locally by expanding our endowment fund. At the same time we need to aggressively expand our operating budget to $3 million annually to provide for ongoing services. And last, but not least, we are in the process of involving more youth in Scouting through our traditional programs, an expanded vision for Scoutreach, and Learning for Life. "Get On Board!" means to "Be Prepared" for the upcoming comprehensive development campaign, upgraded operating budget, and increased representative youth membership. In order to be successful it will take the active involvement of both Scouters and non-Scouters throughout the northwest suburbs. Respond positively when asked to play your part in these comprehensive endeavor --- volunteer to be of service if not asked. It will take all of us working together for our dreams to become a reality. "Get On Board!" Best regards, Stephen J. Taylor, CFRE Scout Executive Northwest Suburban Council |
