Scouter of the Month - Mercedes Gasca Mercedes Gasca has been involved with the Scoutreach Program since2001. She is the Committee Chairman of pack; troop, crew, and LFL group 771 of Plainfield school. Mercedes has been very active in getting parents enthusiastically involved with the program at the school and making sure every child in the neighborhood is given every opportunity to join. Currently there are over 70 kids registered in the scouting program at Plainfield school. Mercedes has been very active on the district level as well. Mercedes sees the positive aspects that the traditional program can bring to the youth in the community as a result she has been a proponent on bringing scouting to the community. Mercedes is also concerned with getting children off the streets and out of gangs as well as getting them away from television. Mercedes is very involved with the schools parent program as apparent Liaison and the Community coordinator for the Latino Community. Mercedes is also taking English classes at First Congregational church in Desplaines.
