December 31, 2005 is the deadline for nominations for the coveted Silver Beaver Award. All Scouters in the Northwest Suburban Council are eligible to nominate other registered Scouters for exceptional service to youth within the jurisdiction of the Northwest Suburban Council. Nominations should include information as up-to-date as possible on Scouting service, community service, volunteer service within the faith community as well as the nominee's career information. Please list the nominee's complete name with correct spelling as well as the primary registration of the Scouter and his/her registration expiration date ( IE --- Scoutmaster of Troop 999 - Registration expires January 31, 2007). Using the official BSA nomination form is helpful, but not required. "Seconding" letters or endorsements are NOT required or desired by the committee. Nominations already filed will be considered. However please realize that this means the information is at least one year old and therefore is outdated and incomplete. All nominations are to be in written form (no verbal nominations, e-mails or faxes are accepted) and should be either mailed or hand delivered to the Northwest Suburban Council Silver Beaver Selection Committee, 600 North Wheeling Road, Mount Prospect, IL 60056.

The Northwest Suburban Council is sending a crew to Sea Base in the summer of 2006. There are eight openings. The estimated cost is $1,250 and a $150 deposit is required now. Dates for the adventure are June 30th through July 7th. Gale Fabisch of Troop 1 in Park Ridge is the adult skipper. If you’re interested, please contact him at 847-698-0971.

    Every Buddy Wins Campaign Continues:

The list of contributing businesses is growing in the NWSC’s new campaign to raise funds for Friends of Scouting. Plans are being laid out for a Council Resource Guide listing contact information about volunteers and their businesses so you will have a Ready Reference Guide to direct you and other Scouters who can service your needs.

In exchange for space in the guide book, businesses would agree to donate a portion of the proceeds on Scouting referrals to the Northwest Suburban Council Friends of Scouting Campaign. For more information on this project, contact Jean Marella at 847-803-4028 or Darwin Walk at 847-824-6910
