Scouter of the Month - Jose Luis Marquez
Jose is the Committee Chairman for Pack, Troop and Crew 797 of Mark Twain School Located in Wheeling. Jose has been active with the Scout Reach Program since 2001.
Jose believes in utilizing both soccer and scouting to help kids get off the streets and teach them good citizenship at home and at school. He believes in the importance of parents becoming involved with their children and as a result he is constantly working with the parents from the Scouting Units in which he is involved. He utilizes a number of tactics to motivate the Scout’s parents to help grow the Scouting program. One way he tries to gain participation is; every Sunday that the Pack, Troop and Crew meet a different group of parents are responsible for providing food for the group. This often includes a cookout that encourages attendance and participation by both the Scouts and their parents. Jose is married and has two children. The eldest child, Jose, attends Mark Twain. Jose is active in El Cerrito de la Virgen de Guadalupe Church. His other interests include Bowling and being with his family. Jose is involved with Scout Reach because he truly feels that this program is the best tool in reaching out and helping the community and allows for the growth of the Scouts in Pack 797, Troop 797 and Crew 797. Congratulations to Jose on his selection as Scouter of the Month for the month of August! |
