Scouter of the Month - Mike Stanbary Pathfinder District is proud to present Mike Stanbary as February Scouter of the month. Mike is currently the Scoutmaster for Troop 290 in Hoffman Estates. Previous Pack and Troop positions include Den Leader, Webelos Leader, Cubmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. Mike has also served as a Unit Commissioner and as the Scoutmaster for Jamboree Troop 1036 in 2005. Mike and his wife Debbie (Committee Chair for Troop290) have one daughter, Michelle, who was active in Girl Scouts and one son, Michael, who is currently a Life Scout and an active member of Order of the Arrow at both the Chapter and Lodge level. Mike was involved in Scouts as a youth and is a Brotherhood Member in the Order of the Arrow. Mike keeps current with Scouting’s best practices by attending many training courses including Okpik and Woodbadge. Mike is also a Merit Badge Counselor for numerous hands-on Merit Badges including Electricity, Engineering, Home Repairs, Metalwork, Plumbing and Woodworking. Mike has also helped with organizing the Webelos Fall Camporee and served on the ScoutFest training staff multiple years. Mike has been with BP Castrol for 25 years and is currently Technical Services Manager. Mike’s interests outside of Scouting include woodworking, home remodeling and supporting his son and daughter’s activities including Scouting, music and theatre.
