SCOUT EXECUTIVE'S MINUTE
Dear Fellow Scouters:
The new Disney movie series “Pirates of the Caribbean” is one of my favorites. In the series, the colorful Captain Jack Sparrow is one of my favorite characters. When asked what his plan is for boarding an enemy ship he gives a quick two sentence response to which he adds, “It’s simple and it’s easy to remember.” Recently, the Central Region has begun a new focus for local council operations in 2007 called “Our Main Things.” It consists of only four items. Much like Captain Jack Sparrow’s response, “It’s simple and it’s easy to remember.” So what are “Our Main Things” for 2007? “Our Main Things” can be expanded to include Spring and Fall recruitment, New Unit Blitz events, school access and recruitment rallies, on-time and in-strength unit charter renewals, unit membership inventories, concentrating on the new Centennial Quality Unit Award, conducting an on-time and successful FOS Campaign for 2007, increased participation in camping and activities, Good Turn for America promotion, continuing our Capital and Endowment efforts, continuing to deliver an overall high quality program with the highest youth retention rate in the Central Region, and ongoing excellent customer service. Simply stated and easy to remember: RECRUIT, RETAIN, SERVE, and GROW. Let’s have a great 2007! Best regards, Stephen J. Taylor, CFRE Scout Executive staylor@bsamail.org |
