Scouter of the Month - Kate Westlake

Scouter of the Month - Kate Westlake Kate Westlake has been an active member of Troop 235 chartered by St. Emily’s Catholic Church in Mount Prospect for numerous years serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster and a Committee Member.

Kate has been involved in Scouting with all three of her children in both the Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs for more than 20 years. She has conducted workshops to help Scouts earn more than 200 religious medals. She herself has received the highest national Girl Scout award for Catholic Women, The St. Anne medal, for her service to youth.

Kate has received numerous recognitions for her contributions to youth including being named as the 2005 St. Emily Catholic Woman of the Year and the 2006 Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Fall Pledge Class Namesake Honoree.

Her recent challenge to the Fall Pledge Class speaks volumes. “Don’t wait for a special day to be set aside - make a difference each day. It doesn’t need to be a big thing.”

The North Woods District takes great pleasure in honoring Kate Westlake as Scouter of the Month.
