Scouters of the Month - Aline Denges and Lisa Earley

Scouters of the Month - Aline Denges and Lisa Earley It's long been whispered in the far corners of Signal Hill, and it's now been established that Signal HIll District is home to a medical miracle. Scouters Aline Denges and Lisa Earley have been confirmed to be conjoined twins separated at birth by both time and space.

Their scouting journey began a mere five years ago when their sons entered Pack 92 as Tiger Cubs. Within a year these den leaders took on the roles of district trainers and event committee assistant chairmen. Since then, they have become an important part of the Signal Hill District Committee as Vice Chair of Membership (Aline) and Roundtable Commissioner (Lisa). Lisa continues to be active in Pack 92 as Secretary, Den Leader to her Wolf Cub, Recruitment and Popcorn Chair, while Aline has returned to the Pack to fill the role of Committee Chair. Their Tiger Cubs are Boy Scouts now; Aline is a committee member in Troop 335 and Lisa is active in Troop 964.

This dynamic duo was part of the committee which transformed Whoop-O-Ree into Webelos Unplugged, and brought Cub Olympics to Signal Hill. These events have been well received by the district's packs, troops and leaders alike. For this work and more they received "Outstanding District Committee Member" awards last year, as well as the "SOS" award previously.

These days you are likely to see "Alisa" teaching a New Leader Essentials or Den Leader Specifics class anytime one is offered in Signal Hill, or sharing their leadership experience at Roundtable.

In the rare moments they are not scouting, they are active members of Church of the Holy Apostles (Episcopal) in Wauconda, where Aline currently serves as Bishop's Warden and Lisa has been honored with the St. George award. Not surprisingly, they share many of the same hobbies: cooking, reading, exercise, household management and child psychology.

Take a deep breath as you read the training they’ve each completed in addition to the basics: Tiger Leader, Den Leader, Webelo Leader, Pack Committee and Troop Committee Specifics, Trainer Development Conference, District Committee Member, Roundtable Staff, OWL, BALOO, Safe Swim, Safety Afloat, Campmaster, Super Scouter Saturday, First Aid/CPR, and Woodbadge (currently working their tickets). What, no Okpik? If you have a scouting question, ask either one of them - she can and will answer for both (if it’s her day to use the shared brain)!
