May 2008 Explorer of the Month — Kevin Hastings
Past Organizations – Kevin has been involved in religious groups in his past such as a church youth group, helping out the community with clean up or fundraisers. Kevin was also an alter server for his church. During his high school career he was involved in the business club, cross country, and track and field team.Leadership roles – Kevin has consistently stepped up to lead drills at our fire post and is always in attendance for fundraising opportunities. He is considered one of our right hand men and at times has taken an instructor role during some of our meetings. I am constantly relying on Kevin to help keep fellow post members in line and/or explain a drill if they are having trouble. He always stays late to help advisors with clean up even when everyone else was released for the night. Kevin is also involved in activities outside of the post, such as planning for the Explorer Safety Committee day, always on his own time. Kevin does not have a history of being recognized for past achievements, however, he has shown the leadership qualities while involved with our post to deserve it now. |
